  • first when the food enters the mouth the salivary glands produce saliva. Hence the break down of food starts from here.
  • then the food is transported to the stomach through the esophagus(food pipe) in a peristaltic movement.
  • the stomach produces HCl, pepsin and mucus.
  • the food is further transferred to the small intestine which acts on the food with the help of intestinal enzymes as well as bile juice and pancreatic juice secreted by the liver and pancreas.
  • the food is then sent in small packages to the large intestine with the help of sphincter muscle.
  • the large intestine further absorbs water and then excretes the waste material through anal sphincter muscle.

HOPE THIS HELPS.
