Each parent contributes same amount of genetic material to offspring. In multicellular organisms specialised cells ( germ cells ) are present for formation of zygote. Though all the other cells in the body have 43 chromosome, these cells only have 22 chromosomes and a sex chromosomes. Thus when germ cells of both parents fertilise they retain proper number of chromosomes (43).
So parents and offsprings have same number of chromosomes
