 \mathbb{Respiration  \: in \: plants :-}

Exchange of gases (respiration ) in plants take place through stomata, by the process of diffusion.

Stomata are present in both leaves and steams, along with its guard cells.

The intake of oxygen (O2) or excel of carbon dioxide (CO2), depends on the environmental condition and requirement of the plant.

During day, plant require CO2 for the process of respiration as well as photosynthesis and O2 is released.

During night, CO2 is eliminated and O2 is required for aerobic respiration.

Root cells of the plant also need O2 to generate energy.

They get this oxygen from air trapped between soil particles.
