How do plants and animals continue to grow all their lives? Do all cells in a plant divide all the time? Do you think all cells continue to divide in all plants and animals? Can you tell the name and the location of tissues having cells that divide all their life in higher plants? Do animals have similar m e r i s t e m a t i c tissues?

plants and animals grow all their lives because the cells in them undergo division. No all the cells do not undergo division. in plants the meristematic cells undergo division throughout their lifespan and in animals the neurons do  not undergo division.

- There are special structures present in plans and animals that divide through out the life.

-No, not all cells divide all the time

-There are specialized cells present on the apex of roost, shoots which undergo continuous division; these cells are called meristematic cells. These cells perform division which results in un-differentiated cells which later on specialized into specific organs.

- Similarly, in animals, stem cells perform the same function as the meristematic cells in plants.
