Cells use oxygen to "burn" food for energy. Water and carbon dioxide are produced as wastes. The cells in both plants and animals perform respiration. ... During photosynthesis, a plant uses light, water, and carbon dioxide to make its own food.

hey there!

Plants are autotrophs means they can prepare their own food through the process of photosynthesis.

Animals are controversy to that means they are heterotrophs . They can't prepare their own food. They need to depend upon others(plants, animals) .
