Plants are the green belt of our ecosystem, In sunlight while performing photosynthesis plants can intake carbon dioxide and releases oxygen.
As carbon is said to be main pollutant of ecosystem which are comes from many sources like automobiles , factories, burning of fossils ; but by the plants the carbon level in atmosphere is balanced out and it will lead in minimize the atmospheric pollution caused by carbon.

Plants take in carbon dioxide during photosynthesis to form starch, thus reducing the greenhouse gas.
It also photolyses water molecules to give oxygen, hydrogen cation and electrons which helps them in the different phases of photosynthesis.
They also bring rain, which helps to wash away air pollutants ( like SO² and NO²) throuh acid rain.
