Plants are absorbing the water and the nutrients through using their roots.

EXPLANATION:

Plants which are having complex root system, which consisting of either a fibrous root or a long tap root system which have consists of more number of small branches of roots. Most of the nutrients are absorbed by the root hairs of the roots which are near to the tip of the roots.    

By the help of fungi:

 Plants also get nutrients with the help of fungi. Plants which are share some of its sugars inorder to exchange the nutrients for getting the help by absorbing the other nutrients. This is called mycorrhizal relationship. These mycorrhizal relationships are most common and beneficial in poor soil.
