• Poriferan animals are characterized by porous body, covered with spicules. They have a large cavity (Spongocoel) and a canal system. On the other hand coelenterate animals are characterized by coelenteron cavity, stinging cells (Cnidoblasts). They do not have a canal system and spicules on the body.
