There are 3 levels depending upon the manner in which they obtain their food from the environment.They are : producers , consumers and decomposers.
Producers are those which prepare their own food from their environment like green plants and blue green algae.
Consumers are those which either eat from the food prepared by producers or them directly.
The tropic level first starts with producers (1st tropic level)then to primary consumers, secondary consumers and tertiary consumers.
Since producers are eaten by the consumers to form a food chain they are related to tropic level
