ration shops provide the necessary goods to people who cannot afford the goods at a low cost

for example :- in Telangana the government provides 6 kgs of rice per person ,that is 1kg 1rupee

so it helps the people who cannot afford them at high cost

Ration shops under pds(public distribution system) basically provide wheat, rice, sugar, kerosene, etc. at a very reasonable rate(less than the market price called issue price) especially for the people who are Below Poverty Line (BPT).

Public distribution system is a food security system which distributes subsidized food and non-food items to the poor people living in rural and urban areas of our county.
