The height of an object above and below sea level is represented by 'altitude'.

How the height of an object is measured with respect to sea level?

  • When an object lies vertically along the sea its height is called altitude.
  • Above sea surface, the vertical distance of an object in relation to ground or sea level is called altitude.
  • This vertical distance is measured by 'altimeters'.
