Answer:

Reproduction is the process of producing new individuals of the same species by existing organisms of a species, so, it helps in providing stability to population of species by giving birth to new individuals as the rate of birth must be at par with the rate of death to provide stability to population of a species.

Although reproduction is not essential to maintain the life of an individual, as are essential life processes, it is obvious that we notice organisms because they reproduce. This is only due to large number of organisms produced due to reproduction. Reproducing organisms create new individuals that look very much like themselves. The consistency of DNA copying during reproduction is important for maintenance of body design. This leads to stability of populations of species.
