Rhizobium bacteria are present in the root nodules of leguminous plants. These form symbiotic relationships with roots of the plants.

They covert atmospheric nitrogen into simples nitrogenous compounds. Thus farmers grow leguminous plants as crop ration plants in their fields to replenish nitrogenous compounds in the soil.
