Social division effects politics in the following ways :-
i. When social difference overlap or cross cut one another it leads to social division.
ii. Every social division does not leads to tention or conflicts in politics. Only when they overlap it causes tention.
iii. Like in northern Ireland the social difference overlap with one another so it leads to conflicts among the catholics and protastans and leads to disintegration of politics.
iv. But in Netherlands the both differences cross cut one another so it reduces the chances of conflicts between the groups and less harm to politics.
v. When more and more social divisions are expressed in the politics it helps in cancelling of each other and reduce their intensity and helps in the process of democracy.
vi. But excess social division in politics may lead to problem because it will not be able to pay attention on other issues such as corruption, poverty etc.
