Streamlined body reduces friction as it reduces opposing force. A streamlined body cuts water in case of fish and air in case of an aeroplane without much resistance. So ultimately the body easily passes through a medium . A fish is streamlined to swim easily in water but a flat object will offer higher resistance and it will ultimately stop. So fish , ships , airplanes , and jet planes all are streamlined.
