During the storage of grains both biotic and abiotic factors cause losses to the grain and various abiotic factors such as moisture , temperature, lack of sunlight etc are losses of grains , these factors cause loss in weight , degradation in quality and poor germinability.

Storage grain losses occur due to biotic and abiotic factors. The biotic factors are bacteria, fungi, mites, insects and rodents. The abiotic factors are moisture and temperature. All the above results in poor market value.
