Answer:  Terraces reduce both the amount and velocity of water moving across the soil surface, which greatly reduces soil erosion. Terracing thus permits more intensive cropping than would otherwise be possible.

Answer:

three processes are most important which help reduce soil erosion if terrace farming is practiced.

a) It drastically reduces the speed of downward water flow over the soil body and thus soil movement with the water flow.

b) It lets the water move into the soil.

c) Above two factors allow better plant growth, which in turn provide larger plant canopy intercepting the falling rain from hitting the ground and dispersing the soil particles and increased proliferation of roots thus greater soil binding by the root system.
