December 16 holds a large place in the history of South Africa as it was first celebrated as the “Dingaan's Day”.
There was the formation of uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) and the introduction of the armed struggle by the ANC (African National Congress) for the welfare of the people. The Day Of Reconciliation falls on the sixteenth December every year. This happened after South Africa’s first non-racial and democratic government took over and was introduced with the intention of promoting national unity.
