how do the ethnic people lead their livelihood
Answers
Answer:
This study was carried out in two hamlets in Ta Lengriver’s watershed, namely Duong Hamlet of Hoang Tri Commune situated upstream and Pac Ngoi Hamlet belonging to Nam Mau Commune downstream.
Duong Hamlet has 29 ethnic minority households that include 24 households of Tay, who have been residing in the hamlet for many generations; and 5 households of Dao, who has been migrated to the hamlet from Cao Bang since 1970. The main local livelihood patterns include paddy rice, swidden cultivation, livestock, and forest use. The hamlet currently has 10 poor households (34.48%) and 19 near-poor households(65.52%). As it is situated upstream, Duong Hamlet helps downstream communities including Pac Ngoi Hamlet in terms of ES. The quality of forests in Duong Hamlet strongly impacts the quality and quantity of water in Nam Mau Commune and Ba Be Lake. In 2013, 550 ha of Duong Hamlet was occupied by forests, which includes 180 ha of protection forest, 350 ha of production forest, and 20 ha of rehabilitation forest.
