  • Earth's surface is constantly undergoing changes. Changes are due to external and internal forces. Internal forces such as 'volcanic eruptions and earthquakes' act below the earth’s surface. External forces such as weathering, erosion and human activity act 'on the earth’s surface'. Internal forces form mountains, plateaus, depression, seas, floor, etc. and external forces form soil and varieties of erosional and depositional features.
  • Through the continual process of 'weathering and erosion' by winds, running water and ice, high extensive plains gradually gets worn down and their surface become irregular. One example is the Scottish highlands.
