how do the following change on moving from top to bottom in a group?
-number of valence electrons
-no. of occupied shells
-size of atoms
-metallic character of elements
-effective nuclear charge experienced by valence electrons

number of valence electrons stay the same, as elements are in the same group!

no of occupied shells increase by 1 each element you go down the group

as the number of shells occupied increases, size of atom increases as well...

the elements become more metallic down the group (simple check: check group 6; chages from oxygen, a non-metal, to polonium, a semi-metal and then to ununhexium, a metal)

nuclear charge experienced decreases, as the outer shell is farther away from the positive nucleus... so there is smaller nuclear charge experienced by the valence electrons...
