how do the guard cell regulate the opeaning and closing of the stomatal pores

....the patassium ions causing their shrinkage or flaccidity. thus closing the stomata..

The opening and closing of stomata depends upon the turgid state or flaccid state of the guard cells. When guard cells are in turgid state the stomatal pore opens and the guard cells swell and when guard cells are in flaccid state the pore closes and the guard cells shrink.
