How do the Himalayan Rivers perform erosional activities and form depositional features.

Explanation:

  • Most of the rivers that originate in the Himalayas are snow-fed and they form deltas and have three parts like the upper and middle and lower courses and thus have a long course to the sea. They perform the intensive activity in the upper course as the streams of the rivers are young and have lots of erosive power for down cutting.
  • As the regular flow of water helps in perform erosion on a daily basis and they carry and deposits of the silt, sand, and gravel with them as they move downwards and empty it into the seas. And these rivers tend to make features like the Oxbow lakes, riverine island, and meanders.
  • The rivers in there upper and middle courses ave tributary and distributes that helps in the slow deposition of this load and thus forming depositional features.
