The historians were able to write about the last 250 years of Indian history using different sources . One the sources considered most reliable is official records maintained by British Administration. Also they can use the writings (novels, articles) etc to know about the circumstances and scenarios in perspective of the era 250 years ago.

 Hope this helps !

Explanation:

The British believed that the act of writing was important . Hence , they got written up every instruction , plan , policy decision etc..... They thought that once this was done , things could be properly studied and debated . This convicted produced an administrative culture of memos , nothing and report . The British were very interested in preserving all important documents and letters. For this , they established record rooms attached to all administrative institution such as village tashildars office , the collective , laws courts etc .......They also set up archive to preserve records
