how do the rain droplets form?

The clouds floating overhead contain water vapor and cloud droplets, which are small drops of condensed water. These droplets are way too small to fall as precipitation, but they are large enough to form visible clouds. Water is continually evaporating and condensing in the sky, which forms rain drops.

.Raindrops begin forming when water vapor condenses on micrometer-sized particles of dust floating in the atmosphere. The dust particles grow to millimeter-sized droplets, which are heavy enough to begin falling.

It is unlikely that collisions between cloud droplets could occur in great enough numbers to produce raindrops. The formation of raindrops is aided by differential condensation. Cloud droplets form when water vapor gas gathers onto tiny airborne particles called condensation nuclei.
