Mrs Slater and Mrs
Jordan belonged to the same category of selfish people whose chief purpose in
life is secure personal comfort and convenience. Both of them lacked filial
affection toward their father. Neither of them went upstairs to see whether he
was alright or not. They just assumed he was dead and started planning for his
burial, obituary and division of his property. Both of them were the chip off
the same block! If Mrs Slater was concerned about securing her father's
bureau, clock, and slippers, Mrs Jordan was all determined to claim her
father's golden watch for her son. Neither of them was sorry for his untimely
demise!
