jean sent Pierre to fetch the eel pie because Marion had already seen Jean and sent him away when he had gone for begging. Pierre was so nervous that he told Marion that Mr. pie sent him to fetch Gaultier . after that he corrected himself and asked for it. then Marion asked him how can I identify u that Gaultier only sent u. he came to kiss Marion's hand then she withdrew her hand and said,I identified u. then Marion handed over the eel pie to him. after tasting the eel pie the Vagabonds felt greedy and wanted to taste the tart. they also felt emboldened by the earlier success. when jean went to get the tart Marion opened the door. he use the same trick on Marion not realising that Gaultier was at home. Marion informs her husband who rushes out and starts beating Jean with cudgel. Jean had rushed away from the baker saying that he would bring back the person who had taken away the pie. having beaten black and blue by the Baker he wanted that Pierre should also be punished. Jean told Pierre that Marion wild give the tart only to the person who had come to take the eel pie and not to anyone. Pierre went to Marion and asked for the tart Gaultier hit him black and blue and asked where the pie was. Pierre said, sir I gave it to the mayor only when you went to mayor's house he was not there but after u were gone he was there only and he is waiting for you and he asked me to get the tart also

The beggars very slyly made the baker and his wife give them the pie and the tart.

The baker told his wife that he has made a pie for the mayor and the person who will come to take it will kiss her hand.

The beggars heard it and went inside and kissed her hand. Baker's wife gave her the pie.

Then they came and said that the mayor wants tart and hence they gave the beggar tart.
