traits get inherited by :

i)during the DNA copying some traits of father and some traits of mother gets inherited in the progeny this is germinal traits .

eg. colour of hair, body structure, behaviour etc.

ii) those traits which a organisms acquire in its life time are called somatic traits.

eg. intelligence etc.
