ANSWER:

  • Required Factorisation = (q-4)(p+3)

GIVEN:

  • pq-4p+3q-12

TO FIND:

  • Factorise the above expression.

SOLUTION:

= pq-4p+3q-12

= (pq-4p)+(3q-12)

= p(q-4)+3(q-4)

= (q-4)(p+3)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • If the question are ask about finding the value of p and q then:

=> (q-4)(p+3) = 0

Either (q-4) = 0

=> q = 4

Either (p+3) = 0

=> p = (-3)

NOTE:

Some important formulas:

(a+b)² = a²+b²+2ab

(a-b)² = a²+b²-2ab

(a+b)(a-b) = a²-b²

(a+b)³ = a³+b³+3ab(a+b)

(a-b)³ = a³-b³-3ab(a-b)

a³+b³ = (a+b)(a²+b²-ab)

a³-b³ = (a-b)(a²+b²+ab)

(a+b)² = (a-b)²+4ab

(a-b)² = (a+b)²-4ab
