First pass magnet over the mixture
Then dilute remaining mixture in water the filter it to get sulphur above filtrate as it is insoluble in water then keep the remaining mixture in sunlight to get salt

We can separate iron fillings and sulphur by magnet and salt and sulphur by dissolving in alcohol.

Separation of iron fillings and sulphur:

  • How Iron fillings can be isolated structure the Sulfur, by either turning a magnet over the blend.
  • The iron fillings will be drawn in by the magnet.
  • Or on the other hand to the combination containing sulfur and iron fillings add carbon disulphide, this will disintegrate sulfur, abandoning iron fillings.

Could salt and sulfur be isolated by dissolving them in ethanol?

  • Salt atoms are extremely charged, so they break up effectively in water, which has marginally charged particles.
  • Salt breaks up less effectively in liquor, since liquor atoms have less charge than water.
  • Liquor additionally has a part of particle has no charges, i.e., it is non-polar, similar to oil.
