Cancel negative sign from both sides so u get
5b = 20
Then divide both sides by 5 to get
b=4

- 5b = -20

you have to seen both side negative sign exist ,

if we put - into -1 then not any change in the value of this ,

e.g. (-1) 5b = (-1) 20

now you see , both sides (-1) exist ,

again,

b = (-1)(20)/(-1)5

you can see that above and below sides (-1) exist so, this is cancelled

now,

b = 20/5

if you remember 5 multiply by 4 then result will be 20

e.g. 5 × 4 = 20

now,

b = 5 × 4 /5

again you can see 5 exist both sides , above and below , so this is cencelled.

now ,

b = 4

hence, value of b is equal to 4

abhi178: have you understand
