the line y=x-1 intersect parabola y=x^2+6x +3 it means there is a point on the line which also satisfies the equation of parabola hence ,
put y = x- 1 in eq. of parabola ,
x-1=x^2 +6x +3
x^2+5x+4=0
(X+4)(X+1)=0
X= -4 or -1
we get 2 values of X hence it intersect the parabola twice
