Unicellular Organisms respire through their plasma membrane. Oxygen dependent organisms directly absorb oxygen from air through plasma membrane lipid bilayer as oxygen molecules are hydrophobic in nature and easily cross hydrophobic core of lipid bilayer. Oxygen enters into cell and controls cellular metabolism through which ATP molecules are produced.
