How do we calculate Literacy Rate?

kanwaljeetnancy: 1. Literacy is a very important quality of a population. Only an informed and educated citizen can make intelligent choices and undertake research and development projects. Low levels of literacy rate are a serious obstacle for economic improvement.
2. According to census of 2001, a person aged 7 yrs and above can read and write with understanding in any language, is treated as literate.

1) WE HAVE TO KNOW THE POPULATION OF ILLITERATED AND LITERATED.
2)WE HAVE TO CALUCLATE THE PECENTAGE BY DIVIDING WITH TOTAL POPULATION AND MULTIPLY WITH 100

1. we have to note the no.of illiterates and literates are there
2. then we have to calculate the percentage of people who have the ability to read and write i.e., literated by dividing with total population and multiplying with 100
