how do we find coordinates of any point?

________

To find out the coordinates of a point in the coordinate system you do the opposite. Begin at the point and follow a vertical line either up or down to the x-axis. There is your x-coordinate. And then do the same but following a horizontal line to find the y-coordinate.

☯ There is no formula to find co-ordinates of a point .

Just Know These Things -

  • The plane is divided into four quadrants ( see attachment ) .
  • Origin(0,0) - The point where plane gets cut by x-axis and y-axis .
  • When we have to find co-ordinate , there are two components i.e. abscissa and ordinate .
  • For example - Co-ordinates of a point are = (3, 5) here , abscissa is 3 and ordinate is 5 .
  • Always look first at x-axis because that is abscissa , then head towards y-axis that is ordinate .
  • This is how we can find co-ordinates of a point .
