We can know about the budha teachings from the three pitakas (Vinaya pitaka, Sutta Pitaka,Abhidhamma Pitaka).Sculptures of buddha gives us information about him.We can also know about from the Stupas(built over the remains of budha's body), Ajanta Caves, Ellora caves, Ashokan pillars where the teachings of buddha are illuatrated on the rocks.
