The narrator loves her mother very much. He is really fond of her mother. This can be seen when the narrator rejects the proposal of the folk who invited the narrator to the clouds. Even though the folks invited the 1st thing which came to the narrator's mind is his mother. He without wasting any time dorectly told the folks that he can't leave her mom as she is waiting for him.
Also he plans a nice game with her mother that one day he shall be the cloud and his mother the moon. And he told that he will cover the moon (mother) with both his hands. This shows how protective is the narrator and can do anything to protect her mother..
