How do we know what is inside the Earth's crust, if we can not dig deeper than 12 kilometres?

with special tools. it's kind of like an x-ray for the earth. and well, we just have learnt that over some time. just like how we can't see or check or dig to the core of the sun, or neptune, we can tell and prove it using a bunch of other sience "rules"/knowledge.
