When we arrange the batteries or a cell in the correct order, then the electricity passes from a terminal of the battery to the bulb by wires. A bulb gets lighted due to the heating effect of the electric wire. Also the bulb gets lighted only when the electric current reaches back to the other terminal of the cell or the battery.  This is how a bulb gets lighted. In a torch when we turn on the switch it allows the current to pass. Thus then only a bulb in a torch gets lighted.
