A candela is the unit of measurement for luminosity. Objects that do not emit their own light are non-luminous, and we are only able to see them when the light from a luminous object reflects off of the non-luminous object and into our eyes.

Explanation:

Objects that do not emit their own light are non-luminous, and we are only able to see them when the light from a luminous object reflects off of the non-luminous object and into our eyes. There are even some living things that are bioluminescent, meaning they are living things that can create their own light!
