How do we separate pbs from zns in froth flotation process?

● Explanation-
- We separate lead sulphide (PbS) from zinc sulphide (ZnS) in froth flotation process by adding depressant like sodium cyanide (NaCN).
- Here, NaCN selectively prevents ZnS to come into froth but allows PbS to form froth.
- NaCN binds ZnS into a complex and prevents its froth formation.
4 NaCN + ZnS → Na2[Zn(CN)4] + Na2S
