so in the first situation the boat went 30km up and 40 km down just in 10 hours , and in the second situation the boat went 40km up and 55km down in 13 hours , this means that the boat went 10 km higher in the second situation and 1 km lower in the second situation in 13 hours .

so= add up the differences =10+11=20km

distance is 20

time= 13+10= 23

speed = distance by time = 20km = 20000m/1380mins

= 14.4927
