how do we subtract b= A+(q-1)d from , a= A+(p-1)d

Solution :

Given b = A + (q-1)d ---( 1 )

a = A + (p-1)d ---( 2 )

Subtract ( 1 ) from ( 2 ), we

get

a-b = [p-1 - (q - 1)]d

=> a - b = ( p -1 - q + 1 )d

=> a - b = ( p-q )d
