The salt is collected from water by the process of crystallisation. After that, it is refined and packed. And finally transported to factories and from factories it is transported to shops and from shops to home. the salt contains iodine which is necessary , lack of iodine cause diseases like goitre, etc.

It causes the neck to swell up and enlarges the thyroid gland. Therefore, doctor advise to use iodized salt to prevent Goitre disease.
