Cavour who is also known as Count Camilo De Cavour (1810- 1861) played a major role in the unification of Italy in the 1850's and 1860's. He was an aristocrat by birth , he is known as the greatest architect of Italian unification due the following roles that he played:

1. He founded a revolutionary newspaper known as Italian resurrection. It advocated for a united and constitutional Italy

2. He was the maker of suitable reforms in Piedmont. This gave Italians more political freedom

3. He hindered the influence of Catholic church in politics. This is due to the betrayal of Pope in 1849

4. He sponsored the establishment of Italian National Society in 1857.  This help in reducing ignorance making it easy to create awareness of the need for a unified Italy.

5. He fought for harmony and unity between conflicting political groups. 

Due to this and many more roles that Cavour played in the unification of Italy, I appreciate him as a key player and architect behind the unification of Italy. He role like the creation of educational reforms, re-organization of the Piedmontese economy makes him a key player and in the unification of Italy
