Heya!

_____________

Mendeleev arranged the elements in increasing order of their masses in horizontal rows till he got an element having properties similar to the first element.

He placed this element below the first element which startes the second row of elements. Proceeding in similar manner, he arranged all the known elements of that time in form of periodic table.

Mendeleev's periodic law states that physical and chemical properties of an element recur periodically according to their atomic massess.

Mendeleev's periodic table consisted of 8 vertical columns called groups and 6 horizontal rows called periods.

First 7 groups had two subgroups each. Subgroup A and subgroup B.
Subgroup A consisted of representative elements and subgroup B consisted of transition elements.

Elements in eight group were arranged in series of three in fourth , fifth and sixth periods.

Merits of Mendeleev's periodic table -

• Mendeleev's was the first one who successfully included all the elements in periodic table.

• When nobel gases were discovered, they could be placed in the tabke without disturbing the order.
