To find out pH of a acid:
you need to find the Molarity of hydrogen which is dissociated
for e.g. HCl ----> Cl- + H+
There is 1M of HCl and after dissociation of HCl there is 1M of Cl and 1M of H formed
(M = Molarity)
pH is determined as: -log[H+]
where H+ is the concentration of Hydrogen formed
In case of base:
pH is: -log[OH-]
where OH- is the Molarity of hydroxide after dissociation
