Given :

Mass of the bird = 1 kg

Distance (Height) of the bird (sitting on the tree limb) to ground = 5 m

To Find : The potential energy possessed by the bird.

Formulae to be used : mgh

Solution :

We know that the value of g (Acceleration due to gravity) is 9.8 m/s².

Then ,

Potential Energy = 1 × 5 × 9.8 = 49 Joules

The required potential energy is 49 Joules.

What is potential energy?

The energy possessed by a body because of its position.

Given :-

mass :- 1 kg

height from object to ground :- 5 meters

» Question :- To calculate potential energy.

We know that potential energy P.E = mgh

→ let's take acceleration due to gravity (g) as 9.8 m/s^2

so

P.E = 1× 9.8 × 5

= 49

» so we have to add units to it .

» units for potential , kinetic and any form of energy is " joule"

so the answer is

49 Joules.
