We can change the pitch of the sound in wind instruments like flute by the position of our fingers in the hole of the flute. Since we know that pressure is always most at the bottom, if we close all holes except the most bottom one, the pitch will be highest for the following reasons-

• Due to the bottom part of the flute having most pressure.

• Since all the other holes are closed the air will have only one hole to escape.

More the energy produced, more amount of energy is exerted and more no. of vibrations happen which leads to the change in pitch.
