How do you come to know that the velocities of electrons in higher orbits are less than those in lower orbits of hydrogen atom

We know that velocity is directly proportional to the r/n factor. Hence we could understand that as the value of n increases velocity decreases. As we move higher value of n increases. Hence, velocity decreases.
